Consistent Rins rules Moto2™ FP3

Consistent Rins rules Moto2™ FP3

Alex Rins was only sixth-hundredths off the lap record at Motegi as he tops FP3 ahead of Johann Zarco and Sandro Cortese.

Paginas Amarillas HP40’s Rins came out on top in cooler conditions on Saturday morning at the Twin Ring Motegi as he set a 1.50.909. The Spaniard almost breaking Tito Rabat’s Pole Record from last year (1’50.854) in the process.

Newly crowned Moto2™ World Champion Johann Zarco failed to improve on his time from Friday but set a time good enough for second in the session, 0.369s off the pace of Rins. Dynavolt Intact GP’s Sandro Cortese (+0.449s) completed the provisional front row.

Derendinger Racing Interwetten’s Thomas Luthi (+0.457s) continued his form from Friday to finish fourth fastest ahead of Jonas Folger (+0.462s) on the AGR Team Kalex in fifth. Speed Up Racing’s Sam Lowes (+0.525s) was sixth fastest with Idemitsu Honda Team Asia’s Takaaki Nakagami impressing once more at his home grand prix to finish in seventh.

Lorenzo Baldassari (Forward Racing), Hafizh Syahrin (Petronas Raceline Malaysia) and Alex Marquez (EG 0,0 Marc VDS) completed the top ten.

Reigning Moto2™ World Champion Tito Rabat is sitting out the rest of the weekend after being declared unfit at the end of FP1 with his broken left radius, hence why Zarco was crowned champion on Friday.

Check out the full Moto2™ FP3 results; Qualifying kicks off at 15:05 local time in Motegi.
