Bautista: “We tried some new solutions on the front”

Aprilia and Alvaro Bautista perform extensive tyre work in Jerez with one final day of 2015 testing remaining.

The Aprilia Racing Team Gresini continued to work in 2015 as they joined several other MotoGP™ World Championship teams for a private three-day test in Jerez. Testing the new Michelin tyres was the main objective for Alvaro Bautista as Aprilia prepare to bring in an all-new MotoGP™ machine in 2016. Steady improvement was made, but the Spaniard could not find the rear grip he had in Valencia just a few weeks ago.

With the December first testing ban rapidly approaching, these final days on track will be vital for the likes of Aprilia as they look to bring an all-new bike to Sepang in 2016. Along with new tyres and a new bike, the Noale factory and its riders will also have to learn the new Magnetti Marelli software in 2016. Bautista continued working with the new package, but spent the majority of the opening two days with tyres as his main focus. Friday will be the final day of the three-day test for Aprilia.

Alvaro Bautista: “On these first two days we focused on the new tyres, trying to gain familiarity with them and figure out how to adjust my riding style. Today we tried some new solutions on the front, making a few improvements although there is still a lot of work to do. Unlike at Valencia, here we found less grip at the rear so we are also working on this aspect."
