Dovizioso: “For me today was a wasted day”

Dovizioso: “For me today was a wasted day”

Several exits for Andrea Dovizioso in Phillip Island to allow for engineer checks, but no time set and a wasted day.

Frequent rain showers in Phillip Island meant that the circuit was rarely fully dry, Andrea Dovizioso staying inside his garage during the wettest part of the day. As conditions remained mixed throughout the opening day of the test, Dovizioso was unable to set a time and instead elected to exit and immediately return to the pits several times in order to allow his engineers to check various aspects of his bike. The Italian and his Ducati Team remain optimistic that Thursday will bring better conditions and offer them a chance to improve the 2016 Desmosedici GP.

Andrea Dovizioso: “Honestly speaking for me today was a wasted day. This morning maybe we could have gone out on track when it was raining heavily, to do a few laps in wet weather set-up, but we preferred to wait a bit. However the situation didn’t improve and the track always remained damp. In the afternoon I did a couple of out-in exits with my Desmosedici GP, to allow the engineers to check a few things, but now I’m really hoping the weather is good tomorrow and Friday to give me the chance to put in some track time with the new bike.”
