The Moto3™ Junior World Championship arrives at Le Mans

The Moto3™ Junior World Championship arrives at Le Mans

For the first time in 2016 the Moto3™ Junior World Championship will run alongside the World Championship.

The FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship travels this weekend to the legendary Le Mans circuit in France for the second round of the season, a special event in which riders and teams will share the stage with the MotoGP™ World Championship. Not only will they be able to take part in a Grand Prix with those who are likely to be their idols, but they can also experience exactly the same conditions as the Moto3™ World Championship riders, though the FIM CEV Repsol riders aren’t as familiar with the French track.

Marcos Ramírez (SPA-KTM) is the rider to watch after winning the first race at the opening round of the Moto3™ Junior World Championship in Valencia and finishing second in the second race, results that make him the undisputed category leader with 45 points compared to the 31 of his nearest rival, Japanese rider Kaito Toba (JPN-Honda), whose win in the second race was his first in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship. In the Moto3™ Production class, Aleix Viu (SPA-Honda) leads after winning the first two events of the season.

Italians Lorenzo Dalla Porta (ITA-Husqvarna) and Dennis Foggia (ITA-KTM), who took podium slots in the first event of the season, will also bear watching. Albert Arenas (SPA-Mahindra), and the two Procercasa-42 Motorsport riders Davide Pizzoli (ITA-KTM) and Enzo Boulom (FRA-KTM), will have the extra benefit of having participated as wild cards in the previous Red Bull Grand Prix of Spain.

The FIM CEV Repsol riders will have the first outing on the Le Mans track on Friday at 12:00 Local Time with the first qualifying practice session; the second will follow a few hours later at 16.05. On Saturday they will be the first riders on track with an 08:30 Local Time warm-up; the race itself (17 laps) will be run at 16:30 Local Time.
