Scott Redding (Octo Pramac Racing) had a tough Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya, suffering with the tyres in track temperatures that soared over 50 degrees. The Brit eventually crossed the line in in P13 – at least bagging some more points for his 2017 tally despite his grip issues.
Scott Redding: “It was a really difficult race. It was the most difficult race of the season. The high temperature of the circuit is my first enemy and when it rises above 50 degrees I can’t find any grip. We have to work on tyre consumption. After six laps I couldn’t defend myself against the attacks of others. I tried to push but I didn’t have grip to get going. Other drivers made the race with the medium tires. I never dreamed I could put the medium because I did not get to the 10th lap”.
Testing on Monday was more positive for the youngest ever GP winner, however, as he put in 59 laps and was eighth quickest:
Scott Redding: "The test was quite good. Yesterday we struggled in the race a lot so it was nice to have some time to work on the bike and we’ve tried quite a few things. It’s always nice sometimes when you have a bad race to try and work again on the Monday to improve it so I’m quite happy."
