Aero watch: what’s new at Ducati?

The Borgo Panigale factory have some updates in Le Mans – and Marc Marquez opts for a different direction

Fresh off the back of the Jerez Test just ten days ago, an array of new updates were spotted up and down the Le Mans pit lane as the five MotoGP factories continue to strive for success.

Maybe the most eye-catching update came down at Ducati where reigning World Champion Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) opted for a different aerodynamic package to his GP26 colleagues.

The #93’s new aero differs to that of teammate Pecco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing) and Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing) when it comes to the side fairing.

The front wings are the same for all four riders and a small evolution on what they have used from the start of the campaign, but the side fairings see two different options.

Whilst Bagnaia and co opt for Ducati’s new 2026 option, first seen at the season-ending Valencia Test in November 2025, Marquez has reverted back to what he knows by applying the GP25-spec side fairings.

Ducati are confident the new package will help improve turning for all four riders, whilst Marquez stated the technical team at Bologna decided he should take this alternative route due to his smaller stature and different riding style.

Another possible reason behind the decision is consistency. Marquez has mentioned his inability at the start of 2026 to be consistent with the bike, and by reverting back in some way to what he knows from his title-winning campaign may help bring some familiarity back to his feeling with the bike, which in turn he hopes will result in more consistent riding.

Bagnaia, Alex Marquez and Di Giannantonio used their new packages to good effect by confirming a place in Saturday’s Q2 session, whilst late yellow flags cost Marc Marquez the chance to join them. The World Champion, armed with the Bologna factory’s latest updates, will look to join them when an unmissable Q1 gets underway at the Michelin French Grand Prix at 10:50 on Saturday morning.
