Where will the five manufacturers be testing in 2023?

Ducati, Yamaha, Aprilia, KTM and Honda have revealed the three circuits where they will test throughout the season

With Official Test days being reduced further in 2023, with one-day events post the Spanish Grand Prix in May and the San Marino Grand Prix in September the only two opportunities, private testing carried out by the five MotoGP™ manufacturers will carry more importance this year.

These private tests can only be carried out by riders who are not full-time competitors in the MotoGP™ World Championship, otherwise known as Test Riders, and can only be done at three Grand Prix circuits nominated in advance by the factories. There is no limit on the number of days that they can test but there is a limit on the number of tyres available to them, reduced this season by Michelin from 240 down to 200 for the year.

All five manufacturers have selected the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto in Southern Spain as one of their three circuits. Then four of the five have selected the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli as another of their nominated venues; with the exception being Yamaha.

Japanese outfits Yamaha and Honda have both selected Motegi as one of their circuits, whilst KTM have removed their home track, the Red Bull Ring, from their nominated three for the first time since they arrived in the premier class.

The full list is as follows:

Ducati: Jerez, Misano, Mugello
Yamaha: Jerez, Mugello, Motegi
Aprilia: Jerez, Misano, Valencia
KTM: Jerez, Misano, Valencia
Honda, Jerez, Misano, Motegi

It should also be noted that manufacturers are permitted to test at circuits not on the 2023 MotoGP™ calendar. Therefore, factories will be allowed to spend time at the popular test track MotorLand Aragon as it doesn’t currently feature on the calendar. The same tyre allocation will, however, still apply.
