The rain stayed away despite threatening the session, and it was Luca Marini (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) who took first honours after the chequered the flag with a 2:03.250. Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) showed he means business in Texas putting his Yamaha YZF-M1 in 2nd place, 0.150s away from the Italian. Fresh off his Argentina GP podium, Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac Racing) continues his fine form finishing Practice 1 in P3.
Quartararo really put the hammer down during his second run and lit up the timing screens. The Frenchman put in a series of hot laps moving the goalposts each lap in an attempt to take control of the session. As usual, though, it was a flurry of fast laps in the closing stages of the session as the riders were desperate to secure a Q2 spot, with the possibility of rain looming over Practice 2.
Positive progress for @FabioQ20! ????

Jack Miller (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) looked strong in the opening stages of the session. The time for a 2nd run came around and the Aussie had a small crash as the rear end let go on him during his out lap. It didn't stop the Aussie however as he continued to put in the laps and put himself 5th in the standings.
With the session drawing to a close the fast laps came flooding in and Marini stormed his way to the top, pushing Quartararo off the top spot. Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) was one of the riders threatening the top three but ended the session putting his Ducati in P4. Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) managed to secure a Q2 spot in P7, as well as Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) who finished in P8.
Currently outside of Q2 contention and hoping for dry weather in Practice 2 is the Argentina GP victor Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) who suffered a small crash and finished in P13. He wasn't the only big hitter facing the possibility of Q1 as Miguel Oliveira (CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP™ Team) and Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) both finished outside the top 12.
