Acosta strikes first in Moto2™ P1 in Germany

Spanish rider Pedro Acosta was just under a quarter of a second clear of his rivals in the first Moto2™ session

Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was the fastest rider in the 40-minute Practice 1 session at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland after he posted a 1:23.979s to top the times. In the closing stages of the session, Acosta traded fastest lap times with Alonso Lopez (MB Conveyors SpeedUp) as the Spanish rider finished 0.237s behind Acosta. It was an all-Spanish top-three at the Sachsenring as Manuel Gonzalez (Correos Prepago Yamaha V446 MasterCamp) completed the top three, 0.301s down on Acosta’s time.

Filip Salač (QJMOTOR Gresini Moto2) took fourth place ahead of Jake Dixon (Polar Cube GASGAS Aspar Team) in fifth, while Fermin Aldeguer (MB Conveyors SpeedUp) rounded out the top six. World Championship leader Tony Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS Racing Team) finished eighth in P1.

Aron Canet (Pons Wegow Los40) was running in the top six in the early stages of the session but a crash at Turn 11 stopped his P1 session. Following the crash, Canet was taken to the medical centre for a check-up.
