A. Espargaro: lowest grid position winner in the dry since Melandri in 2006

Check out some of the stats that surfaced from a sensational weekend of racing at Silverstone, including Colombia becoming the 30th Grand Prix-winning nation

It’s time to have a gander through some statistics that emerged from a spectacular weekend at Silverstone for the Monster Energy British Grand Prix:

35 – With Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) finishing P2, Ducati is on a streak of 35 MotoGP™ Grand Prix races in a row with at least one rider on the podium.

12 – Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) won after qualifying 12th. In terms of dry races, Espargaro's win from P12 is the victory from the lowest grid position since Marco Melandri at the 2006 Turkish GP, who won after starting 14th.

9 – Espargaro became the ninth different winner over the last nine MotoGP™ races held at Silverstone following Jorge Lorenzo (2013), Marc Marquez (2014), Valentino Rossi (2015), Maverick Viñales (2016), Andrea Dovizioso (2017), Alex Rins (2019), Fabio Quartararo (2021) and Francesco Bagnaia (2022).

49 – Bagnaia finished second for his 49th Grand Prix podium. It’s his 26th podium in MotoGP™ and his sixth so far this season, more than every other rider. Johann Zarco (Prima Pramac Racing) and Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team) are tied in second with four.

7 – At the British GP, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) finished P3 and stood on the podium for the seventh time in MotoGP™, but for the first time in P3. All other times he either won (twice) or finished second (four times).

3 – With Aleix Espargaro, Bagnaia and Binder, this is the first time an Aprilia, a Ducati and a KTM share the podium in the premier class.

2 – Aleix Espargaro took his second MotoGP™ win as his second GP win of his career along with the Argentina GP back in 2022. In addition, this is Aprilia’s second win in the premier class.

2 – Two riders have scored points in the first nine Grand Prix races of the season: Franco Morbidelli (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™) and rookie Augusto Fernandez (GASGAS Factory Racing Tech3).

1.572 – In Moto3™, Ryusei Yamanaka (GASGAS Aspar Team) finished 1.572 seconds off the winner and teammate David Alonso for the second-closest top 15 in Grand Prix racing history. The closest remains the Moto3™ race in Italy 2017 (1.553 seconds).

1 – Alonso took his maiden win in Moto3™, becoming the first Colombian rider to win in Grand Prix racing. Colombia becomes the 13th different country to win in the Moto3™ class and the 30th in Grand Prix racing.
