It was a weekend to remember for some and a weekend to forget for others at the 2023 Catalan GP. Below are some of the stats that surfaced from Barcelona:
1 – This is the first Aprilia 1-2 GP finish in the premier class. It’s also the first time two Aprilias have been on the Grand Prix podium.
3 – Aleix Espargaro has become the third rider to do the 'double' and take both the Tissot Sprint and GP victory at a Grand Prix. Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) has done it three times and Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) has done it once.
3 – Aleix Espargaro took his third MotoGP™ win and third GP win of his career along with the Argentina GP in 2022 and the British GP earlier this season. In addition, this is Aprilia’s third win in the premier class.
3 – Aleix Espargaro took the win ahead of Maverick Viñales and Martin, which is the first all-Spanish podium since the Argentina GP last year, when Aleix Espargaro took his maiden win.
4 – Martin finished P3 for his fourth podium overall so far this year, equalling his highest number of podiums in a single season set in his two previous years in MotoGP™.
33 – Viñales finished second, equalling his best result with Aprilia from Silverstone last year and Portimao this season. This is his 33rd podium since he stepped up in MotoGP™ in 2015.
37 – With Martin on the podium in third, Ducati is on a streak of 37 MotoGP™ Grand Prix races in a row with at least one rider on the rostrum.
