Schwantz: "Trackhouse have a lot to look forward to"

The MotoGP™ Legend spoke at the Trackhouse Racing team launch in LA about Oliveira, Fernandez and the new American team

1993 500cc World Champion Kevin Schwantz was one of a few familiar faces in attendance as Trackhouse Racing MotoGP™ unveiled their first premier class livery to the world in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

While there and just after the covers had been lifted to show a spectacular American-themed livery on Aprilia’s newly backed Independent Team bikes, Schwantz spoke live on MotoGP™ Instagram about the excitement surrounding Trackhouse landing in MotoGP™.

“You know there have been some good American teams, Kenny Roberts had one, it never was based here and this one isn’t going to be either but with the American background hopefully we can find some of those new kids and get some excitement,” began the MotoGP™ Legend, who was one of several American stars who took Grand Prix motorcycle racing by storm in the 70s, 80s and 90s.

“You gotta love the stars and stripes on it and we know the Aprilia is an amazing bike. What Trackhouse has done in NASCAR in their short time, they obviously know how to work hard and get good results so I’m excited.”

25-time Grand Prix winner Schwantz also commented on Trackhouse’s exciting line-up for 2024 – Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez. It’s a great mix of experience and youth, and Schwantz thinks MotoGP™’s newest team has a lot to look forward to with the Portuguese and Spaniard.

“I think we all saw Raul needs a little fine-tuning. He’s an aggressive, fast, hard rider and that’s what you have to be. Miguel had a few injuries but you know he’s won the Portuguese Grand Prix, he’s a proven race winner and I think Trackhouse have a lot to look forward to.”

The first thing Trackhouse are looking forward to is seeing their bikes and riders on track for the Sepang Test, which takes place between the 6th and 8th of February.
