It was a return to the top for Stefano Nepa (LEVELUP – MTA) at the Sachsenring as the Italian put together a 1:25.283 to finish 0.031s ahead of Dutch TT winner Ivan Ortola (MT Helmet – MSI). David Alonso (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) bagged P3 on Friday but the Colombian had to leave it late to land a competitive time following a fast crash at Turn 11. The World Championship leader will be aiming to have a less dramatic session on Saturday morning.

Securing P4 was Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), who continues to look strong and is aiming for redemption this weekend after missing out on victory in Assen. Meanwhile, Angel Piqueras (Leopard Racing) took the honours as the top Honda at the end of Friday in Germany. While the #36 rounded out the top five, Taiyo Furusato (Honda Team Asia) would finish behind in sixth after a rock-solid session for the #72, he was 0.306s shy of Nepa’s benchmark and ahead of Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing) and Red Bull KTM Ajo’s Jose Antonio Rueda, who took ninth.
Quite an important one to look into 🔎

Further back, Yamanaka would improve late to finish ninth, ahead of David Muñoz (BOE Motorsports), who took the final spot in a tense top 10. Daniel Holgado (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) was P11, placing ahead of Luca Lunetta (SIC58 Squadra Corse) in 12th. While the final spots inside the top 14 went the way of BOE Motorsports Joel Kelso and Matteo Bertelle (Kopron Rivacold Snipers Team). This leaves some big names to find time on Saturday including Scott Ogden (MLav Racing) and Tatsuki Suzuki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), who narrowly missed out.
There is still one more chance for the Moto3™ field to claim their spot inside the top 14 in a crucial Practice 2 session on Saturday at 8:40 local time (UTC +2) before qualifying kicks off at 12:50 local time, so make sure you don’t miss any of the action on motogp.com!
