It was an exhilarating 35 minutes for Moto3™ Practice 1 at the Monster Energy British Grand Prix, with Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) ending the day quickest after breaking the previous lap record. However, the #95 would suffer a crash at Brooklands in the final five minutes, while on a lap to further improve. Veijer set a 2:09.565 and had a 0.387s gap over Ivan Ortola (MT Helmets – MSI), who was in second place at the end of Friday and is looking consistent this weekend. Meanwhile, rookie Jacob Roulstone (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) rounded out the top three in what was a great day for the Australian. The #12 briefly topped the pile before Veijer improved on his time.

It was a fast session with Veijer leading the session early on before the riders eventually took to the Silverstone circuit for a final time attack in the last 10 minutes. Roulstone soon hit the top of the order before Veijer reclaimed top honours. The order was constantly changing and things were not settled at the top, with many riders finding time in the first sector but were unable to match Veijer’s pace throughout the remainder of the lap.
Scott Ogden (Fibre Tec Honda - MLav Racing) ended the day in an impressive fourth, on the same day MLav Racing announced that fellow Brit Eddie O’Shea would join the team from the Indonesian Grand Prix onwards. Behind Ogden was Stefano Nepa (LEVELUP – MTA), who rounded out the top five ahead of title leader David Alonso (CFMOTO Valresa Aspar Team) who was down in sixth. It was a dramatic session for the #80, who found the limit early on, losing the front and crashing at Turn 6 with less than 20 minutes to go. Behind Alonso was Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP’s Tatsuki Suzuki in seventh, who continues to have a strong weekend after finishing ahead of Ryusei Yamanaka (MT Helmets – MSI) in P8.
A rare occurrence for David Alonso! 😮
