MotoGP™ roared back into action for the start of the Gran Premio Red Bull di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini, with Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) flying to the top of the timesheets. The Spaniard looked comfortable, setting a strong 1:37.707 to start the weekend on top. It was close at the top, with Martin finishing 0.034s ahead of Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) at the end of FP1. The #93 continues to carry momentum from Aragon, setting nearly 20 laps across the morning and placing ahead of the impressive Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). The #44 returned to action this weekend as a wildcard and was instantly on the pace – impressively 0.213s adrift from top honours.

Prima Pramac Racing’s Franco Morbidelli had a strong morning in fourth, with the Italian setting a great in the closing moments. Meanwhile, it was an equally impressive morning for Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy MotoGP™ Team) as the #20 spent the majority of the session inside the top five spots. Quartararo rounded out the top 10, beating Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing), who claimed P6. Aleix Espargaro built throughout the session, setting a late 1:32.098 to finish ahead of Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) as the #33 continued a strong start to the weekend for KTM. Meanwhile, Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) took eighth, with work to do for the reigning World Champion this weekend to close Martin's title advantage.
Maverick Viñales (Aprilia Racing) was ninth as Red Bull GASGAS Tech3’s Pedro Acosta took the final spot inside the top 10 with the rookie starting start. Further back, it was a tough start to the San Marino GP for Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) in 19th and Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira, who were outside the top 20. It was also a tricky morning for the Repsol Honda Team, with Luca Marini placing 18th and Joan Mir sitting out of the session due to gastroenteritis.
Unfortunately @JoanMirOfficial will be sitting out of the session
