Reigning World Champion Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) left it late to deny 2025 Australian Grand Prix winner Raul Fernandez (SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team) Free Practice 1 top honours on a windy but sunny and warm Friday morning at Phillip Island. The #93 set a 1:27.985 to beat Fernandez, who crashed at Turn 6 early on in FP1, by 0.048s, as home crowd favourite Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha MotoGP) begins his farewell Australian Grand Prix with a classy P3.
It wasn’t all smooth sailing around the Island for Miller, though. Moments after setting the provisional fastest lap of the session in the closing five minutes, Miller lost the front through the Doohan Corner at Turn 1 to end the Aussie’s session prematurely, but thankfully, the home hero was back up on his feet after the +150km/h crash.
NO WAY 🤯 @jackmilleraus incredibly goes to P1 but then crashes at Doohan corner 😱 #AustralianGP 🇦🇺 https://t.co/WpuXf4eoWD

Indonesian Grand Prix winner, Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing), was 0.293s adrift of Marc Marquez’s time in P4, while Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) acted as the rider closing out the FP1 top five. Just behind the younger Marquez sibling heading into Practice a little later is Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in P6, and World Championship leader Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) in P7. The gap between the fastest seven? 0.453s.
MotoGP Practice is coming up at 15:00 local time (UTC +10).
