Concessions: where is each factory at the summer checkpoint?

The first assessment point of 2025 is upon us so here’s a rundown of where each factory is as we head into summer break

The factory concessions system in MotoGP is assessed every half season, taking into account the two 'half' seasons before the checkpoint. For example, at the end of a season, the full season is assessed. Halfway through, like the summer break now, it takes into account the first half of this year and the second half of last year.

After the 2025 Czech GP, that means it’s the first half of 2025 AND the second half of 2024 that are taken into account for the rankings. So here’s where we are now, factory by factory. And if you need a catch up on concessions, scroll to the end for a reminder of how they work!

Rank A: Ducati

Ducati have every GP win but two in 2025, and every Tissot Sprint win – on top of their incredible end to 2024 as well. So they remain resoundingly in Rank A. That means they have no wildcards, frozen engine spec, limited testing, etc – as they have had from the introduction of the system. Yet the Borgo Panigale factory remain the benchmark.

Rank B: no one

With the system designed around the percentage of points and Ducati on such a roll, there is already less chance for factories below to move up. That’s one contributing factor to no one being in Rank B as it stands – and no factory has been since the system was introduced before the 2023 end of season test.

Rank C: Aprilia & KTM

Aprilia have won a Grand Prix in 2025 and had a pretty good end to 2024 too. Still, they were the last factory confirmed in their rank as it went down to the Czech GP weekend to see if they would move down to Rank D or remain in Rank C. With no Jorge Martin for much of the first half of this season, it’s nearly all Marco Bezzecchi who has added points on the board in 2025, as well as a handful from Trackhouse MotoGP Team’s Raul Fernandez in Germany.

KTM were already confirmed in Rank C before Brno. Their solid end to 2024 and consistent run in 2025 added up to a fairly good haul in the standings – despite the factory likely having been aiming higher. Consistently on the podium last year, they now have been in 2025 too after two rostrum visits for Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) in Czechia.

Rank D: Honda & Yamaha

After a tough end to 2024 for both factories, Honda and Yamaha were almost guaranteed to remain in Rank D regardless of their 2025 form. But just looking at the rank hides their consistent improvement too. From sometimes scoring 7% or 8% of possible points in a weekend towards the end of last year, both factories are now taking three or four times that many on average.

Once we reach the end of the season it could get particularly interesting because that extremely tough end to 2024 will no longer be taken into account. This year, Honda have won the French GP with Johann Zarco (CASTROL Honda LCR), and Yamaha have a slew of pole positions and podiums with Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP). Remaining in Rank D is deceptive in some ways as it hides the huge step forward – but it also means they retain their unlimited testing and all the benefits the concessions system has to offer. Something both are truly maximizing as they race back to the top...

CONCESSIONS: how does it work?

The concessions system is designed to equal out performance, or allow factories who are a little further behind on the timesheets to get more opportunity to catch up. Factories are put into Ranks from A to D depending on the percentage of points they’ve scored in the window being assessed, and that decides what they get – from more wildcards and aero updates to more chance to test, at more venues with more riders. Here’s exactly what each factory gets in each rank:
