Talking Points: "I will eat two burgers and maybe one pizza!"

Our trip to Indonesia will be remembered for a long time, with a rookie claiming victory and some big moments – here are the hottest talking points

The 2025 Indonesian GP was filled with action, unexpected moments and thrilling battles in a weekend which saw Fermin Aldeguer (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) claim his first victory in the premier class. The rookie finished ahead of Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) on a day of high drama as key names crashed out. With all of this and a trip to Phillip Island coming up, catch up on the hottest talking points from Mandalika!

"I will eat two burgers and maybe one pizza!"

Fermin Aldeguer entered the history books on Sunday, ending the weekend as the second youngest MotoGP winner of all time. It was a remarkable achievement from the #54, who took victory by an impressive 6.987s at the flag. The MotoGP rookie looked like a seasoned veteran at Mandalika as he gave his immediate thoughts on a special day, including his plans for some food celebrations later on.

Aldeguer: "This is a very special moment for me, all my people, for Gresini and all of Ducati. I think in my rookie year, we are doing an incredible job. In some races, I felt this potential, but we knew that we had to improve on Friday and qualifying, and then it would be easier to get this kind of result. This is extra motivation for the next races, but I want to enjoy this moment and continue to improve.

"Yesterday was a bit of a sad day, but we were super motivated today, and yes, I will eat two burgers and maybe one pizza!"

"Apologies to Marc"

Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) and Marco Bezzecchi’s (Aprilia Racing) hopes came to an end on the opening lap after Bezzecchi tagged the back of the #93’s machine, causing both riders to crash out. Following the incident, we got the thoughts from both camps as Davide Tardozzi and Massimmo Rivola gave their reaction to the crash.

Davide Tardozzi: "Unfortunately, he had a bad crash, and it seems like there could be a break in the collarbone, but we have to wait until tomorrow, when in Madrid the scan will tell us exactly what the situation is.

"I think that Marco had a fantastic weekend until the first lap of the race because he showed that he was faster. But I think that he must think a little bit more and wait. I think he was in too much of a rush. As usual, the race is not won on the first lap, but you think about 27 laps, I think Marco made a mistake."

Massimo Rivola: "First of all, apologies to Marc because it was actually Marco’s fault. The good news is that, according to the latest news we got from the hospital, nothing was broken. He clearly had some big pain on his back, but I think it was also from Motegi and here.

"I just saw Davide, I texted Jaime his manager and saw Riccardo Savin in the paddock and yeah, just apologies."

"I was feeling on the limit"

Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) and Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) put on a show for the Indonesian fans, with an intense scrap for P2. Acosta would come out on top, finishing second after some incredible defending in the closing laps. However, both riders would have their own challenges during the GP, with management proving to be key.

Acosta: "We tried to do everything perfectly, make a good start, good first laps, as for sure the rhythm wasn’t super high, but I was managing the front tyre pressure. It was not easy to be inside the range, and because of this, I let Rins pass to try and make it higher, and it worked, but it’s true that it takes time.

Alex Marquez: "I was feeling on the limit physically, there were many laps that I was behind many bikes, and I think my front tyre was getting hotter and hotter. I made a mistake at a few corners, and I said, ‘Okay, I give up,’ and I just scored the podium and continued to go forward. Today I am happy with the podium, but honestly speaking, I'm not happy because I saw Marc crash and I know it’s not really good, but it’s like this sometimes, and you have to accept it."

"This is racing"

Luca Marini (Honda HRC Castrol) and Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse MotoGP Team) had their own battle on track – fighting for the podium in the opening stages. However, the pair would make contact and go wide at the end of Lap 14, allowing Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) through. Marini finished P5 with Fernandez P7, leaving plenty to reflect on Sunday.

Marini: "I lost a lot of positions with the move, and I was in front. Anyway, this is part of racing; it is also correct that he didn’t get a penalty, as for me, it was just some racing contact. It just was not a smart move in my opinion; he saw that I was attacking Pedro every lap and trying to overtake him to push more and increase the race pace, as Pedro was really slow, but he was doing his own race with the perfect strategy of blocking everybody."

Fernandez: "I am happy, but I’m not super happy, as we were very competitive throughout the weekend and until the end, we were fighting for the podium. But at the moment, we need to try and find something to help us overtake because especially in fourth/fifth gear, I felt that we need more power to try and overtake."

"Really good weekend"

Alex Rins had an incredible day, showing a remarkable return to form in the opening stages on his soft tyres. The highlight of Rins’ GP arrived at the end of Lap 18 as the #42 entered second position. It was an encouraging performance, with Rins dropping to P10 at the chequered flag, leaving the weekend with a positive outlook.

Rins: "I really enjoyed the race today. We used the soft tyre, as we knew that with the medium we would struggle in the first seven laps. I had to manage the tyre because yesterday, after 10 laps, the tyre was finished. Today I was able to do the first 20 laps well, but then, as soon as I was in second, we began to struggle with the tyres. Anyway, we had a really good weekend, and this is an achievement for me."
