Brivio on Trackhouse’s remarkable progress: "There is no recipe"

Following Raul Fernandez and Trackhouse MotoGP’s maiden win, Davide Brivio shares his insight into the Spanish star and the team

The 2025 Australian GP marked a huge milestone in the Trackhouse MotoGP Team’s history as Raul Fernandez went on to claim their first victory. It was a proud moment for everyone involved in the Trackhouse project and over at Aprilia as they continue to make strides in the premier class. Trackhouse are in just their second season of competition in MotoGP, leaving team principal, Davide Brivio, to look back with pride.

Following the win, we caught up with Davide Brivio, who remains one of Raul Fernandez’ biggest supporters after a difficult start to the season: "This year there has been criticism because at the beginning, it was difficult, we were struggling to score points in the first races, and then we started to be in the top 10 regularly, and then we tried to target the top seven, and then he jumped straight to the podium, which we expected would take more time."

Davide Brivio remains one of the most experienced people in the paddock, working with some of motorcycle racing's greats – including Valentino Rossi and Noriyuki Haga. Throughout his time in the paddock, he’s picked up some knowledge from stars of the past, which he can now pass down to Fernandez.

"There is no recipe or strategy around it. With Raul, we talk a lot, and I try to use what I've learned from past riders because I've learned a lot, especially working with Valentino. But also, all the other riders, Joan Mir, we won a Championship together, Alex Rins, Viñales and Haga in the past. I’ve tried to pick up the best parts from everyone and transfer them to Raul."

One eye on the future

In August 2024, the American squad announced their latest signing – Ai Ogura. The 2024 Moto2 World Champion landed himself a ride with the team and has already scored some strong results. Ogura’s best finish this season is P5, with Davide Brivio remaining excited for the future as he believes that the Japanese rider could become a valuable asset to help further develop the team.

"We have always believed in Raul in a way that when we decided to sign him, we kind of gave him a leadership status, while Ai continues to grow. Hopefully, next year there will be no leader, because there will be two number one riders in the team, as I think Ai Ogura has a lot of potential."

Trackhouse MotoGP first entered the World Championship in 2024, ending their first season P9 in the Teams’ standings. Since then, it’s been an upward trajectory, with Davide Brivio adding that they are not done yet as he and the team look to move a step closer to their original goal – beating the factory teams.

"When Justin Marks hired me, we always said that our mission is to have an independent team that will challenge the other independent teams, first of all, but also to challenge the factory teams and to try and do what we did today more often."

With just three rounds remaining in 2025, Trackhouse and Fernandez have three more opportunities to chase a second victory. Malaysia is up next, so make sure you stay tuned for all the latest!
