2010 – Lorenzo strikes MotoGP gold

The 2010 Malaysian GP was an unforgettable weekend, with Jorge Lorenzo facing match point at Sepang. Lorenzo started strong, leading Andrea Dovizioso as Valentino Rossi began to work his way towards the podium. Soon, Lorenzo was demoted to third – leaving the Italians to fight for victory. The battle went down to the final lap, with Rossi edging out Dovizioso at the final corner – securing victory. However, the memories were made in Lorenzo’s camp as P3 was enough to crown him the 2010 World Champion!

2015 – THE Sepang clash

Arguably one of the most infamous moments in MotoGP history came in 2015, with Valentino Rossi vs Marc Marquez at the Malaysian GP. With the Championship remaining close, everything hung in the balance as tension boiled over. Dani Pedrosa took victory ahead of Lorenzo, but it would be the battle for third that created headlines following a clash between Rossi and Marquez. Rossi would receive a back of the grid penalty for the finale in Valencia, following a moment which creates debates to this day…

2016 – Dovi on cloud nine

Unpredictable weather, a delayed start and a remarkable day for Andrea Dovizioso. The lights went out in the wet conditions, with Andrea Iannone snatching the lead in the early laps before a crash ended his podium hopes with seven laps remaining. Everything was left to be decided between Valentino Rossi and Dovizioso, with the #04 eventually putting the hammer down at the front. Dovizioso took his first win since 2009 and became the ninth different winner of the season, beating Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo.

2022 – Ducati’s Malaysian showdown

Sepang 2022 sparked fireworks from lights out as Jorge Martin placed his bid to lead early on. The #89 later suffered a costly mistake, crashing out on Lap 7, leaving Francesco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini to fight for glory. The pair traded blows in a breathtaking fight which went down to the wire. The win went the way of Bagnaia, with Bastianini finishing just 0.270s behind, while Fabio Quartararo earned an important third.
