Agius claims Misano lap record to beat Gonzalez to Friday honours

Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP earn a perfect Friday as Alonso completes the top three in a closely fought Moto2 Practice

Senna Agius laid down a new Moto2 all-time lap record at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli to front the times heading into the weekend, as the Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP squad celebrate a perfect start to the San Marino GP. Why? Because World Championship leader Manuel Gonzalez was a close P2; 0.120s was the deficit to his teammate’s 1:34.142, while David Alonso (CFMOTO Aspar European Privilege Team) rounded out a top three covered by 0.133s.

The times were tight through the session, with Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) eventually finishing P4 after briefly leading the timesheets as practice entered crunch time. Daniel Holgado handed CFMOTO Aspar European Privilege Team a double top five; the #96 was 0.329s away from Agius’ pace, with REDS Fantic Racing enjoying their Friday as Tony Arbolino and Barry Baltus sail into Q2.

Next up: Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2). The rider second in the title race ended Friday in P8 as the lead Boscoscuro rider, with two more 2026 race winners sitting just behind the Spaniard in the top 10 – Alonso Lopez (ITALJET Gresini Moto2) and Filip Salač (OnlyFans American Racing Team).

Last year’s Misano winner, Celestino Vietti (Beta Tools SpeedRS Team), is into Q2 automatically, and so too is Ivan Ortola (QJMOTOR – Green Power – MSI). Both will be hunting improvements going into Saturday, however.
