Magnificent McDonald crowned inaugural Bagger World Cup Champion

After 12 races and six rounds, the title goes down to the wire in Spielberg as the Australian holds off Gutierrez to make Bagger World Cup history

The inaugural FIM Harley Davidson Bagger World Cup has finally crowned a Champion after 12 races in six rounds. The baggers took it down to the wire with the cup winner being decided in the grand finale in Austria.

Archie McDonald (Joe Rascal Racing) proclaimed himself Champion of the first edition of the World Cup, finishing just 9 points over Oscar Gutierrez (NITI Racing), with 202 points from 12 races, standing on the podium nine times, taking victories in both COTA and Silverstone.

Race 1 at the Red Bull Ring was taken in dominant style by Oscar Gutierrez for his fourth win of the season. The Spaniard came into this sixth round seven points adrift of Archie McDonald, who took the second spot on the podium, finishing over 8 tenths behind, leaving very little between them in the cup standings. Wildcard James Rispoli (Joe Rascal Racing) completed the Race 1 podium.

The big upset was caused by Aragon double race winner Andrea Iannone (Niti Racing) making a dangerous overtake on Eric Granado (Joe Rascal Racing) that saw both riders go tumbling through the gravel, Granado's Bagger World Cup dreams going with them.

Race 2 saw Granado make his rebound, asserting the dominance we've seen from him all season, denying Gutierrez the victory with Kyle Wyman (Wegner Automotive x KWR) taking the podium in only his second race in the World Cup.

Archie McDonald, knowing that simply finishing the race in the points was enough to proclaim himself World Champion, did so with style. The Australian eventually finishing eighth to take the first ever FIM Harley Davidson Bagger World Cup.
