Jorge Martin ruled out of Australian GP after Sprint crash

The Aprilia Racing rider has been declared unfit for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix

Following an eighth lap crash at Turn 8 during the Tissot Sprint, Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing) has been declared unfit for Sunday’s Australian Grand Prix at Phillip Island. The Spanish rider went down while battling Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) for the lead in the race and in the World Championship fight, bringing his Sprint to an early end.

The Spaniard was taken to the circuit medical centre following the crash, where X-rays revealed a fracture of the radius and a suspected fracture of the ulna at the distal end, meaning a confirmed break to one of the two bones in his forearm near the wrist, with a second break in the other forearm bone also suspected.

Martin will undergo further examinations to reach a definitive assessment of his condition, but he has already been declared unfit for Sunday’s race.
