Isaac Viñales was accepted into the prestigious Red Bull MotoGP Academy in 2006, before in 2011 he moved to the Spanish Moto2™ series following a stint in the Spanish 125 Championship. His 2012 season with the new Moto3™ class was on board an Ongetta-Centra Seta-backed FTR Honda and he remained with the same team for 2013, showing real promise. For 2014 he joined the Calvo Team, the same team with whom his cousin Maverick won the championship in 2013, and picked up his first three GP podiums. In 2015 Viñales raced for the Husqvarna Factory Laglisse team during the first half of the season with a best finish of third in Argentina. He ended the season with the RBA Racing Team before signing for the Tech 3 squad in Moto2™ for 2016. He moved to the SAG team for 2017, where he remains this season.
