Rider Story

Finnish rider Niki Tuuli won the 2012 Yamaha Cup before moving into STK600. In 2013 he was 14th overall, before 2014 saw him take a step up and finish fourth overall after a win and three podiums. The following season he took more podiums and was fifth, and also made his first WorldSSP appearance, scoring seven points. Tuuli then burst onto the 2016 WorldSSP stage in the final races of the year as he took three stunning second places in a row, and in 2017 he raced in the Championship full time and took his first win. 2018 began in WorldSSP before Tuuli then moved to Moto2™ with Petronas Sprinta Racing, making impressive progress and scoring his first point before the end of the year. He moved to the Ajo Motorsport MotoE™ team for a new challenge in 2019 and started the year by making history and becoming the first rider to win a MotoE™ race at the Sachsenring. A mistake in Austria saw him slip back to fifteenth and out of contention before his season ended prematurely in Misano when a crash in the closing stages resulted in a broken femur. Now back to full fitness ahead of the 2020 World Cup, Tuuli will look to add to his single MotoE™ victory.
