Gino Borsoi made his Grand Prix debut as a wildcard at Mugello in 1996, after progressing through the ranks of the European Championship. A rider recognised for his qualities as a tester, he became involved with the development of the Aprilia 125 during his first two seasons but soon emerged as a rider of true World Championship potential and after some consistent riding in 1999 he picked up his first podium at Catlunya in 2000. Gino got off to a fantastic start to last year and lead the title chase in the early stages with top 5 finishes in the first five races. However, he faded away in the second half of the season and will have to maintain his best form throughout 2002 if he is to challenge for honours.
