Rider Story

Cudlin grew up racing motocross, winning his first Australian Championship at 12 then dominating in his age group for the next 5 years. Cudlin moved to roadracing on 80cc machines then 125cc. At 17, he made the jump to 1000cc bikes, winning his debut Australian Superbike race ahead of Factory riders. At 18 he went to Europe to catch one off rides, until landing a factory ride in Australian Superbikes. From 2005 on he was a frontrunner in the World Endurance and IDM Supersport Championships. His first GP appearance was in 2010 with team Pons/Kalex Moto2 in a stunning ride to 7th at Sachsenring. In 2011 he replaced an injured Loris Capirossi on the Pramac Ducati in Japan, followed by Hector Barbera in the Mapfre Aspar Team at Phillip Island although on the second occasion he was unable to start following a crash. Following a pair of Moto2™ outings in 2012, Cudlin returned to MotoGP™ at the 2013 Aragón Grand Prix in order to cover for Yonny Hernandez who had moved to Pramac Racing. He retired from the MotorLand race with gearbox problems and is looking for more towards the end of the season. In 2015 Cudlin was again drafted in as a replacement rider, filling in for Alex De Angelis in both Phillip Island and Sepang. Cudlin has developed a reputation as one of the most reliable replacement riders in MotoGP™, having now ridden a large variety of bikes.
