Rider Story

David Alonso, born in 2006, moves up to the Moto3™ World Championship in 2023, joining the GASGAS Aspar Team. He comes to the World Championship with three titles to his name and the aim to continue learning. He made his debut with Aspar Team Junior in the 2017 Spanish Championship and won his first title in the 85GP class in 2018. In 2020, he became champion in the European Talent Cup and in 2021, he won the Red Bull Rookies Cup. Alonso has already competed twice in the World Championship as a replacement and guest rider in 2021 and 2022. In 2023, he made his debut as a permanent World Championship rider with the GASGAS Aspar Team and Ryusei Yamanaka as his teammate. With eight podiums, including four victories and a Top 3 finish in the Moto3™ overall standings, leaving Alonso to start 2024 as a contender for the Championship. However, the #80 would exceed all expectations throughout the season after taking a record-breaking 14 victories, which saw Alonso secure the Moto3™ World Championship with time to spare after he clinched the title at the Japanese GP. Alonso will make the highly anticipated jump to Moto2™ with the Aspar Team in 2025.
