Santiago Hernández joins older brother Yonny in the Moto2 category in 2011, thus doubling the Colombian presence in the intermediate class. ‘Santi’ rides for Eduardo Perales’ Stop&Go team in his debut year, on board an FTR machine.

Hernández started riding at nine years old, but an accident resulting in multiple fractures at 12 forced him into a rethink and temporary timeout from riding. Returning on two wheels at 14 he rode 125cc motocross and was runner-up in his national championship, repeating the achievement in supermotard at 16. Switching to full on road racing he soon moved to Spain where he in 2009 he rode alongside his brother in supersport, changing to Moto2 in 2010 as he completed a second season in the CEV Buckler (Spanish National Championship), and in 2011 he rides alongside Ratthapark Wilairot on the SAG World Championship team.
