GERMANY
Racing has taken place in the area around Chemnitz, Germany since the 1920s. The more modern circuit of Sachsenring, 8km west of the town, was built in 1996 and hosted its first MotoGP ™ race in 1998. The track underwent a significant update in 2001. Its numerous tight corners make it a challenge for MotoGP’s technicians, with a spectacular plunging downhill right-hander nicknamed ‘The Waterfall’ giving riders plenty to focus on.

Sachsenring 2013 - MotoGP - RACE - Full
Marc Marquez has won the eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, picking up his second MotoGP™ victory and seventh podium finish from eight races. In the absence of both Jorge Lorenzo and Dani Pedrosa, the same three riders were on the podium as at the Dutch TT, with Cal Crutchlow and Valentino Rossi second and third.

The Repsol Honda rider won a shortened 21-lap eni Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland ahead of Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner, who beat the returning Valentino Rossi to the final podium spot with an overtake on the last corner of the race. The original race was red flagged after a crash for Randy de Puniet, which resulted in a broken left leg for the Frenchman.
