Born in Anderstorp, home to the Swedish GP, in 1976, ÂStiggy began motorcycle racing in 1993 and was a twice winner of the Swedish 125 championship by 1995. In 1996 he moved up to 250s to contest the Nordic Championship  winning the series at his first attempt. A one-off Grand Prix ride at Rio with Suzuki in 1997 was StiggyÂs reward for an encouraging 5th place in the European Championship that season, and it was followed up with his first full year in Grand Prix in 1998. Despite an 8th placed finish in Argentina, the young Swede could only manage 21st spot overall and in 1999 made the switch to Yamaha and the EDO Racing team. He again struggled to make his mark however, and finished the season in 27th place with just four championship points. He joined the Dee Cee Jeans Racing Team for 2000, finishing with 26 race points and an encouraging 16th place overall, and will now line up for 2001 on the Team Sabre Sport V4 500.
