MotoGP™ is back in 2020 as four factories have completed their programmes at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli. Aprilia Racing Team Gresini, Ducati Team, the two Red Bull KTM teams and Team Suzuki Ecstar all spun some laps in anger for the first time since the Qatar Test.
It was an important test for the manufacturers on site, with Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro and Bradley Smith confirming which engine spec the Noale factory will be using to power them to success in 2020.
Suzuki’s Sylvain Guintoli continued to work on the comparison with the new and the previous chassis to confirm that the direction is correct. The Frenchman, who turned 38 on Wednesday, also worked on some bike set up and electronics. He also tested new tyres from Michelin, especially in relation with the new asphalt at Misano as Michelin needed data on that ahead of the Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini and Gran Premio dell'Emilia Romagna e della Riviera di Rimini.
The KTM riders of Pol Espargaro (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), his teammate Brad Binder, and Red Bull KTM Tech3 pairing Miguel Oliveira and Iker Lecuona completed two days at Misano, with Pol Espargaro leaving the San Marino coast in very high spirits – can both KTM and Aprilia consistently challenge the other factories in 2020? One of those factories is Ducati and on hand for the Bologna manufacturer was Michele Pirro, who put in the work for Ducati Team. Chassis, engine mapping and more aero work was the main protocols for the Italian.
The MotoGP™ riders, teams, fans and everyone else now look forward to the Gran Premio Red Bull de España on the 17th-19th of July.
