Title rivals up against it ahead of Global Series Round 2

If qualifying is anything to go by, we are in for two sensational races in the 2nd round of the MotoGP™ eSport Championship

The 2021 Global Series is back with the 11 finalists showing the racing promises to be as ferocious as ever after two hotly disputed qualifying sessions for the second of four rounds which will decide this year’s MotoGP™ eSport Champion!

11 gamers, hailing all arround the world, made it through the Pro Draft and Draft Selection phases and have been chosen by the MotoGP™ teams to represent them in the prestigious four-round series.

Tomorrow (Friday 20th August), the finalists will take on the second round of the season. The first is held on the historic Sachsenring Circuit and poses a new challenge for the Global Series this year – wet conditions. The second race will be contested on the Red Bull Ring’s long, high-speed straights.

Ahead of race one, joint championship leader Trast73 grabbed pole from the impressive RiccardoBottaro64 and AndrewZh. Much to everyone’s surprise, title contender and reigning champion Adriaan_26 could qualify no higher than 8th and has it all to do from the third row of the grid.

But the second qualifying session, around the Red Bull Ring, brought up further surprises. Williams_Cristian bagged pole position with a brilliant lap ahead of Piero Ricciuti55_ with Adriaan_26 faring better on this occasion in third. Here it was Trast73’s turn to encounter some difficulties, the Italian setting just the eighth fastest time.

Be sure to tune into the action-packed show tomorrow (Friday 20th August) at 16:00 CET (GMT +2), when presenters Jack Appleyard and Jack Gorst will host an hour-long show, beginning with highlights of qualifying before the 11 riders take on two races. Friday’s action will be available to watch live on motogp.com and esport.motogp.com, on selected TV broadcasters, and across social media platforms including YouTube (via the MotoGP™ and MotoGP™ eSport channels), MotoGP™ eSport TwitterInstagram, Facebook (via MotoGP™ and MotoGP™ eSport pages) and Twitch via MotoGP™ and MotoGP™ eSport.
