Granado clinches pole position ahead of Casadei

The Brazilian stormed to pole position ahead of Casadei and Zaccone with Ferrari down in P9 after a dramatic qualifying

The FIM Enel MotoE™ World Championship is back on track at the Gran Premi Monster Energy de Catalunya with a further two races to add to this unpredictable season. Before racing, however, the grid had to be decided with Eric Granado (LCR E-Team) taking the spoils after setting a sensational 1:48.215. Granado was straight on the pace, setting his quickest lap on his third attempt, to qualify ahead of teammate and Championship leader Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team). The #40 will be hoping to add to his success so far this season after missing out on pole by a mere 0.032. Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing) will round off a talent-packed front row of the grid in third position - setting an identical time to Casadei.

For the first time in 2024, Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing) will head the second row of the grid, aiming to add to the success that he experienced at Le Mans – taking both race wins. However, Oscar Gutierrez (Axxis-MSI) and Hector Garzo (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™) will aim to put an end to Spinelli’s win streak – starting and joining the #29 on the second row of the grid. However, although Garzo showed good pace in qualifying the same could not be said for teammate Lukas Tulovic (Dynavolt Intact GP MotoE™), who after battling through Q1, was unable to set a lap in Q2 and will start from 10th after pulling into the pitlane mid-qualifying.

On the third row will be both Openbank Aspar Team machines of Jordi Torres and Kevin Zannoni, with work to do in the race to have a chance to battle for victory. Matteo Ferrari (Felo Gresini MotoE™) was unable to show his full potential after a disappointing crash at turn two in the final two minutes of the qualifying. Another rider, who will be forced to battle through the field on Saturday is Andrea Mantovani (KLINT Forward Factory Team) who is currently seventh in the Championship and will start from 13th on the grid – unable to exit Q1.

Make sure you don't miss both races on Saturday with lights out at 12:15 local time (UTC +2) for Race 1 before Race 2 at gets underway at 16:10 local time, so make sure you keep up to date on motogp.com!
