Jorge Martin: "Winning alone is empty"

Featuring on the latest cover of Men’s Health magazine, the 2024 World Champion explains his mindset change that aided his title success

Jorge Martin, our newly crowned 2024 MotoGP™ World Champion, has appeared on December’s cover of Men’s Health magazine – the world’s largest men’s magazine brand – for the first time.

The 26-year-old delves into his mentality switch after missing out on the 2023 crown to factory Ducati’s Pecco Bagnaia. Admitting he’s a more “mature” character in 2024, Martin explains to Men’s Health why he had to come away from the mindset of being obsessed with winning.

“Well, obviously winning is great, that's very clear, but you have to go a little further... I think that winning without more is something empty," said the World Champion.

“I think you have to look for a deeper meaning, winning for your people, to leave something for the future. I look for that meaning in things so I don't get obsessed with the fact of winning,” added Martin.

And it’s a switch that saw the now Aprilia Racing star clinch a second World Championship title. With a heap of pressure resting on his shoulders, Martin held his nerve to beat Bagnaia by 10 points in Barcelona's tantalisingly tense title decider.

"Basically I've worked a bit on my head, I had room in that sense. Before I was obsessed with winning, I wanted to win and that's it, and I've discovered that that doesn't make me win more,” continued Martin, who faces a fresh challenge in 2025 on Aprilia's RS-GP – but he’ll be doing at the reigning king of motorcycle racing.
