The Champion
Jorge Martin (Aprilia Racing)
Fresh off his first MotoGP™ World Championship in 2024, Jorge Martin is on a mission to prove the doubters wrong yet again. Overlooked for the factory Ducati seat, Martin opted to join Aprilia before clinching the 2024 title in stunning fashion. Now, he’s piloting the RS-GP as he defends his crown, showing that being underestimated only fuels his fire. With another point to prove, The Martinator is one of the biggest threats on the grid.
The Contenders
Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team)
Deposed but not defeated, Pecco Bagnaia is seeking revenge. After two consecutive titles, he was dethroned by Martin in 2024. Now partnered with Marc Marquez at Ducati, the Italian brand’s most successful rider ever faces the challenge of not only reclaiming the crown but also battling his teammate, who’s just as hungry for glory. Expect fireworks.
Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team)
The aforementioned eight-time World Champion is chasing his ninth World Championship in 2025. Reigniting his career with Gresini Racing after a nightmare spell with injuries stretching all the way back to 2020, the #93 ended a 1043 day wait for victory in Aragon. Two more followed in 2024, and Marquez now leads Ducati’s factory effort alongside Bagnaia. With the best machinery under him and a renewed hunger, he’s the ultimate blend of experience and firepower as he seeks MotoGP™ glory once again.
Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing)
The MotoGP™ sophomore sensation is poised for greatness. Having won both the Moto3™ and Moto2™ titles in the space of three years, Acosta’s rookie MotoGP™ season in 2024 saw him finish a stellar sixth in the standings, and now he’s armed with factory KTM machinery. The 2025 title might be a long shot, but the Shark of Mazarrón is chasing his first premier class victory—and he might just surprise everyone.
The Rookies
Ai Ogura (Trackhouse Racing)
Ai Ogura, Moto2™ World Champion in 2024, makes his MotoGP™ debut with Trackhouse Racing. After years of near-misses, Ogura finally secured the title, the first Japanese rider to do so in 15 years, and now he’s ready to take on the premier class with his Championship-winning momentum.
Fermin Aldeguer (Gresini Racing)
Aldeguer has burst onto the scene as one of the most hyped rookies in recent memory. With a record-equalling streak of four consecutive intermediate-class wins in 2023, it caused Ducati to act fast and tie the youngster down to a MotoGP™ deal at the beginning of 2024. The Spanish starlet has raw pace and undeniable skill. Can he live up to the hype in his first MotoGP™ season?
Somkiat Chantra (LCR Honda)
Thailand’s first-ever Grand Prix winner is making history again as the nation’s first MotoGP™ rider. Chantra’s debut season will kick off with a homecoming at Buriram, where he’ll race in front of his adoring fans. It's set to be an incredible spectacle.
The Fresh Starts
Enea Bastianini (Red Bull KTM Tech3)
A Moto2™ World Championship and then seven Grand Prix wins with Ducati make Bastianini one of MotoGP™’s most exciting talents. Now he’s bringing his aggressive style to KTM Tech3 after losing his factory Ducati seat to Marc Marquez, where he’s expected to be a powerhouse alongside teammate Maverick Viñales. With a bike that complements his riding style, Bastianini could throw up a few surprise results in 2025.
Maverick Viñales (Red Bull KTM Tech3)
Viñales begins another new chapter with KTM’s satellite team, aiming to rediscover the form that once made him a title contender. With KTM’s improved machinery, Top Gun has the tools to make a splash in 2025, and potentially create even more history. The #12 became the first-ever rider in the MotoGP™ era to win with three different bikes (Suzuki, Yamaha and Aprilia) at COTA in 2024, and a fourth could beckon next season.
Franco Morbidelli (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team)
Franco Morbidelli, a three-time race winner, is set to make a homecoming in 2025. After rising through the premier class ranks with Yamaha, the Italian switched to Prima Pramac Racing in 2024, adapting to Ducati machinery. However, Pramac's transition back to Yamaha bikes for 2025 left Morbidelli seeking a new opportunity. As a graduate of the VR46 Academy, he returns to the VR46 team with a clean slate, ready to race with nothing to lose and everything to prove.
Jack Miller (Prima Pramac Yamaha)
Jack Miller, a MotoGP™ race winner with Honda and Ducati, faces a fresh challenge after a two-year stint with KTM. With Pramac Yamaha calling, Miller will join their new project in 2025, bringing his fearless style and charisma. The King of Stoppies is on the M1, ready to help Yamaha climb back to the front.
Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing)
After a stellar 2023 season that included three wins and a P3 Championship finish, Bezzecchi’s 2024 was underwhelming. Now, he’s got a chance to make a real impact with a factory Aprilia ride. The Italian rider partners World Champion Jorge Martin in 2025, aiming to prove he’s still one of the best in the business.
Miguel Oliveira (Prima Pramac Yamaha)
After a frustrating spell with Aprilia, Miguel Oliveira has a new home at Pramac Yamaha. Tasked with helping restore Yamaha’s glory, the Portuguese rider’s talent is undeniable. A five-time race winner, the first of which came in the most dramatic of circumstances. A wicked rider in the wet, the #88 has a fresh start, he’s ready to show what he can really do.
The Status Quo
Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team)
A true rags-to-riches story in the premier class, Fabio Di Giannantonio faced the brink of losing his MotoGP™ seat after two solid but unspectacular seasons. However, a late surge in 2023, capped by a stunning maiden victory over reigning champion Pecco Bagnaia in Qatar, turned his fortunes around. Now entering his second season with VR46, Diggia will pilot the third and final factory GP25 in 2025, eager to continue his fairytale rise.
Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing)
Raul Fernandez (Trackhouse Racing)
Raul Fernandez set the world alight during his Moto2™ rookie campaign, taking eight wins as he fell just short in the title race. That form earned him a seat in the premier class, but he hasn't quite been able to replicate it, though he has had his moments. Entering his fourth year in the class, and third with Aprilia machinery, Fernandez is determined to make that breakthrough.
Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing)
The younger Marquez brother continues with Gresini Racing, aiming to build on his best Championship finish of 8th in 2024. A two-time World Champion in the junior categories, the #73 has five podiums and two Tissot Sprint wins to his name, but is still yearning for his first Grand Prix victory in the premier class.
Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP)
The 2021 World Champion is on a mission to reclaim the glory days with Yamaha. After a turbulent few seasons of inconsistent results, Fabio Quartararo, known as El Diablo, is hungrier than ever to return to the top. With Yamaha making strides for 2025, Quartararo is expected to play a starring role in their resurgence and contend at the sharp end of the field.
Alex Rins (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP)
Rins enters his second season with Yamaha, continuing to develop their M1 into premier class contender. A six-time race winner in MotoGP, his experience and racecraft are invaluable assets to the project. The Spaniard has endured a torrid time with injuries in recent seasons, missing 16 GPs across the 2023 and 2024 campaigns.
Joan Mir (Honda HRC)
The 2020 World Champion is back with the factory Honda, hoping to turn the tide after several challenging seasons. Flashes of brilliance have been few and far between since moving to the Japanese brand, but the tail end of 2024 offered a glimmer of hope as the RC213V experienced an uptick in performance.
Luca Marini (Honda HRC)
Rossi’s half-brother continues to grow as a force in MotoGP™. Trading in Ducati for a factory Honda in 2024, the Italian faced a steep learning curve before gathering momentum in the latter half of the season and a string of point scoring finishes. As Honda aim to rebuild, Marini is key to their efforts.
Johann Zarco (LCR Honda)
The elder statesman of the MotoGP™ grid, Johann Zarco, brings a wealth of experience to LCR Honda. A back-to-back Moto2 World Champion, Zarco has ridden for Yamaha, KTM, Ducati, and now Honda in a career defined by versatility and perseverance. After holding the record for most podiums without a win, he finally broke through with a sensational victory in Australia in 2023, celebrating with his iconic Sunday backflip. As LCR’s top performer last year, Zarco remains critical to their development efforts in 2025.
