MotoGP made its long-awaited return to Argentina in 2014, with Termas de Rio Hondo replacing Buenos Aires as the host circuit. Since then, the track has witnessed some of the most iconic races in recent history. Let’s relive the best moments from Argentina’s Grand Prix.

2015: Marquez vs Rossi: the rivalry ignites

The 2015 Argentina GP was a defining moment in MotoGP™ history. On April 19, Marc Marquez and Valentino Rossi clashed in a race that planted the seed for one of the sport’s most intense rivalries. A late-race collision saw Marquez crash out, handing Rossi the victory. This dramatic encounter set the stage for a season-long feud that would shake the championship. The rest, as they say, is history.

2016: Flag-to-flag chaos and Ducati's friendly fire

A year later, Marquez found redemption at Termas with a commanding victory. The #93 conquered a wild flag-to-flag race, fending off pressure from Rossi while barely avoiding an early collision with Andrea Iannone in Turn 1. 'The Maniac' later dramatically stole the spotlight, taking out his own Ducati teammate, Andrea Dovizioso, handing second place to 'The Doctor' and gifting Dani Pedrosa an unexpected podium.

2017: Vinales seizes the moment as Marquez crashes

Maverick Vinales turned disappointment into triumph at Termas de Rio Hondo. After crashing out in 2016, he capitalised on a mistake from Marquez, who fell while leading the race. Vinales took the victory, strengthening his MotoGP™ title hopes. Rossi joined him on the podium, reinforcing Yamaha’s dominance at the track.

2018: Crutchlow makes history, Marquez sparks controversy

The 2018 Argentina Grand Prix had everything—controversy, penalties, and a historic win The race started with the surreal sight of Jack Miller alone on the grid after a bizarre pre-race delay. During the race, Marquez was penalised twice—first with a ride-through and later with a 30-second penalty for causing Rossi to crash. In the end, Cal Crutchlow held off Johann Zarco to take a historic victory, the last British premier-class win to date. Elsewhere, Alex Rins capitalised on the mayhem to secure his first MotoGP podium.

2022: Aleix and Aprilia reach new heights

After a two-year absence due to COVID-19, the Argentina GP returned in 2022 with a landmark victory. Aleix Espargaro made history by securing Aprilia’s first-ever MotoGP™ win, triumphing over Jorge Martin and Alex Rins. This breakthrough moment, coupled with a series of strong performances, positioned Espargaro as a genuine title contender.
