Long-time Ducati test rider Michele Pirro will get his second outing of the season and a first one at Mugello since 2023 as he jumps in the hot seat for Alex Marquez (BK8 Gresini Racing MotoGP) this weekend. The 39-year-old veteran Italian will line-up alongside Fermin Aldeguer in Gresini colours for the team’s home Grand Prix whilst Alex Marquez continues his recovery at home.
The younger of the Marquez brothers was injured in a big crash in his home Grand Prix in Catalonia just over a week ago and will miss the action at Mugello and Balaton Park as he recovers. Last year’s runner-up sustained a broken right collarbone and a C7 vertebrae fracture, the former of which has already been stabilised with surgery.
