Gonzalez slams in lap record for Moto2 Mugello pole

The Spaniard heads Salač and Escrig after a last gasp lap record in Q2

Manuel Gonzalez (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) set a new lap record in qualifying at Mugello, putting in a late 1'48.474 to pull a quarter of a second clear at the top. The ominous lap demoted Filip Salač (OnlyFans American Racing) from provisional pole to second, with Alex Escrig (KLINT Racing Team) taking third to complete the front row.

Row 2 sees Dani Holgado (CFMoto Inde Aspar Team) in fourth, the #96 having come through Q1, joined by Collin Veijer (Red Bull KTM Ajo) and Alonso Lopez (ITALJET Gresini Moto2), who is just 0.020 off the Dutch rider. The margin behind Lopez is even smaller as Senna Agius (Liqui Moly Dynavolt Intact GP) just misses out on the second row by 0.006, taking P7.

Izan Guevara (BLU CRU Pramac Yamaha Moto2)and David Alonso (CFMoto Inde Aspar Team) will both be looking to charge forward off the line from eighth and ninth, with Ivan Ortola (QJMOTOR - Green Power – MSI) taking P10 in Mugello.

Fresh from the podium in Barcelona, home hero Celestino Vietti (MB Conveyors SpeedRS Team) will be looking for more from P16, having crashed at Turn 10 in Q2.
