Ajo confirms KTM Assen issues solved ahead of the Sprint

The issue that affected Acosta on Saturday morning has been found and solved, explains the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team Manager

Pedro Acosta (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) suffered the same issue twice on Saturday morning in Assen, once in FP2 and again in MotoGP Q2.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team have now discovered and solved that issue – as Team Manager Aki Ajo confirmed to MotoGP reporter Jack Appleyard in pitlane ahead of the Tissot Sprint.

“Of course you know MotoGP bikes have many sensors to make the bike work, and some of them also for safety reasons,” begins Ajo. “This morning when the rider went over the kerbs, let’s say they triggered the emergency mode of the bike and that caused the bike to stop. There’s nothing wrong with the bike and the rider did everything correct but we needed to react in the correct way and now the problem is solved."

So is it Acosta’s style?

“I wouldn’t say it is. I’d say he has the correct riding style and is doing well. Sometimes you arrive at some limits for the values (…) when you are going over the kerb, the bike is moving, and there were some values we never reached before – and unfortunately this morning we did. So now the problem is solved and we go for a solid race.”
