Can Bastianini return to the top step in Aragon as another battle awaits?

Ahead of the paddock’s return to Aragon, check out who you should consider for MotoGP™ Fantasy

MotoGP™ returns to Aragon for Round 12 of the season with the Gran Premio GoPro de Aragon hosting the first part of a doubleheader as the paddock heads to Misano the following week. As the riders prepare for battle and the Championship continues to heat up, MotoGP™ Fantasy returns for another throw of the dice.

What happened last time out in Austria?

Stealing the headlines once again in Austria was Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), with the Italian completing the double and securing a five point lead in the Championship. The #1 was the GP’s top rider with 53 points as Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) came out second-best, scoring 39 points after a P2 finish in the Tissot Sprint and the race.

Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) continued an impressive run, claiming 34 points after a podium finish on Sunday. Meanwhile, Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing), finished inside the top five on Sunday, scoring a further 28 Fantasy points for everyone who had the #33 in their team.

Meanwhile, it was another impressive weekend for Ducati, picking up a strong 46 points, to extend their advantage. There was further success for the Ducati Lenovo Team, who took the honours as the top team after claiming 43.5 points in Spielberg.

Who looks strong ahead of the Aragon GP?

The paddock now returns to MotorLand Aragon for the first time since 2022, with the venue previously playing host to some incredible last-lap battles. The most recent winner in Aragon was Bastianini ($4.5M), with the #23 taking glory after an intense final lap fight. However, you cannot look past Bagnaia ($5.7M), who continues an impressive run of form in 2024. Bagnaia has a strong record at the Aragon GP, taking victory in 2021 and coming second best in 2022.

Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) could be seen as a good option to add to your team, with the eight-time World Champion taking victory at the Aragon GP five times since joining the MotoGP™ class in 2013. Then there is Martin ($5.2M), who is sitting second in the Championship standings but has yet to finish on the podium at MotorLand Aragon in the premier class. The #89 will take a significant amount of your budget but is another rider who is currently in red hot form.

However, if you are looking for a more affordable alternative, Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia Racing) could be a strong option with the Spaniard priced at just $2.7M. Espargaro finished on the podium in 2022 and has already looked strong in 2024. Meanwhile, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing duo Jack Miller ($1.4M) and Binder ($2.8M) could both be seen as great picks for your team. Both riders finished inside the top five on their last visit, with Miller now preparing for a new challenge onboard the KTM.

Ducati has only won three races in Aragon, winning on the last two occasions in 2021 and 2022, while Honda and Yamaha both have a strong track record in the past. However, no Pierer Mobility Group machine has won in MotoGP™ at this circuit, and with Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3) continuing a strong season, the rookie could be seen as a good option. Acosta will cost $2.2M and has previously shown some impressive pace at MotorLand Aragon, taking his second Moto2™ victory in 2022.
