Alex Baldolini continues in Moto2 in 2011 having achieved the first World Championship podium of his career in 2010. In his 143rd GP start the experienced Italian took second place at Estoril in the maiden season of the Moto2 category, and in 2011 will seek to repeat the feat with the Forward Racing team.

Baldolini started out on pocketbikes before moving up to national 125 competition level in 1999. The following season he made his World Championship debut as a 125 wildcard at Mugello, and a first full season came in 2002. After one year in the 125s he moved up to the 250cc class, in which he spent seven seasons before the introduction of Moto2 in 2010 which saw him achieve his podium finish in the penultimate round of the season.
