It has been an incredible MotoGP™ World Championship so far, as competition in all classes has been fierce and unpredictable. Standout performances have shifted the balance of power, with unexpected leaders emerging and seasoned contenders battling to keep pace.
Nine rounds into the 2024 campaign, let’s look at the state of play of each title battle in the World Championship.
MotoGP™
In the premier class, momentum has swung significantly in favor of reigning Champion Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) over the last few rounds. Since the Catalan GP, the Italian has displayed remarkable form, securing four consecutive victories and taking control of the title race at the German GP. A late crash from Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) at the Sachsenring resulted in a blank score for him on Sunday, leading to the first change in the Championship lead since the Portuguese GP.
Bagnaia and Martin have distanced themselves from the rest of the field in the title chase over the opening nine rounds. Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) and Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) trail behind, 56 and 67 points adrift of Bagnaia, respectively.
