Rider Story

Born in 2001, Czech rider Filip Salac debuted in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup in 2016 and built momentum throughout three years in the series, coming home fourth overall in 2018 after some impressive podiums. Also racing in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship, he scored a point there in 2016 before again showing solid progress despite some injury struggles in 2017 after breaking his leg mid-season. In 2018 he came 11th overall in the CEV and also made his Grand Prix debut as a wildcard in his home race at Brno with Redox Pruestel GP and he moved up full time with the same team in 2019. The following year saw him change to Rivacold Snipers Team where he continued his development in the lightweight class. For 2021, he started the year with Snipers before switching back to the PruestelGP squad halfway through the year. A debut podium in Le Mans, followed by a debut pole position in Germany secured the tall Czech a Moto2™ ride with Gresini for 2022, where he impressed in his rookie year. The undoubted highlight of the campaign coming at the Thai GP, where he earned a maiden intermediate class podium in a wet 16-lap race in Buriram. His journey with Gresini family continued in 2023 as he aimed to build on the encouraging debut season. He finished second at Le Mans, ending the season in 11th place overall. In 2024, he races for the Elf Marc VDS Racing Team.
